Interventional Radiologists provide critical nursing care to the cardiac patient while assisting the Interventional Radiologist, Vascular Surgeon, and Endovascular Neurosurgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Interventional Radiologists closely monitor the patient for complications, administer medications including moderate sedation, document the procedure, and also may circulate or scrub into procedures. Interventional Radiologists also play an important role in communication and patient education both pre and post operatively. Interventional Radiologists typically work in the hospital setting.
